Hotel Xbalamque Resort & Spa, Cancun Reviews

  • First of all, I was here in June, terrible time because of the humidity and the "air conditioner" was too cold and we had thin "blankets". We had to run into the elevator because the elevator closed in approximately less then 2 seconds. Also, there was no water one night, and after coming back from a beach day, we could not take the sand off. To continue, if you pulled the "sheets" you could see cardboard. And not only that, but there were roaches the size of a giraffes neck sleeping by my side. The hallway lights were delayed/ motioned censored like the ones you would install in your driveway. Also the hotel inquired "room service" but every time we tried to call for it, some weird song would play. Last but not least the service was horrible. we were 5 people sleeping in one room with only 2 beds. The employees did not do anything about it after we called before landing in Mexico. I had to force the employees to get me 3 extra towels and 3 extra sheets. TERRIBLE, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

  • Very basic authentic Mexican hotel. No wash towels. Bring your own hair dryer. Only needed to sleep and bathe since we were out most of the time. Cute rooms though. This place will save you money. Close to public bus. Don't be afraid. The staff will explain how to travel

  • I stayed here several weeks over different trips and always enjoyed this hotel. It was clean, air conditioned and had a nice grotto pool. Last time l was there they has done some remodeling. I also loved the Salsa dance school that rents one of their studios. It is located in downtown Cancun, a block from Parque Palapas, and a short walk to the municipal office, ADO bus depot, the busses to the hotel zone and Mercado 28. It is in a (reasonably) safe area, but as always, be careful walking at night. (I often went out walking or with taxis at night without issues.) I'll be back.

  • The outside of the hotel is interesting, the entire neighborhood looks a bit sketchy too. The hotel has a nice atmosphere but definitely needs to be updated. No blankets, no face towels and the windows dont shut. So not only do you have to deal with a horrible air conditioner you have to deal with bugs too. The beds are uncomfortable and the sheets look dirty, I even seen roaches while staying here. Its perfect if your gone all day but once you return it just feels yucky. The bathroom shower freaked me out and I was able to see where they tried to put a new ceiling in...epic fail

  • The hotel is very atmospheric with its Mayan sculptures and colourful artwork but the windows in the rooms won't close or lock and the plumbing isn't good. Taps only trickle. The staff are friendly and helpful. They changed my room after the first night due to plumbing issues. Good local transport links and some great bars and restaurants nearby. On the whole its a great place to be if you're not expecting luxury.
