Cancun is replete with serene beaches that make up for a perfect quiet holiday. However, those of you who are looking for adventurous swimming, the Playa Chac Mool is the ideal beach. This beach is named after a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican stone statue that can be found throughout Yucatan and central Mexico. This beach looks beautiful with its white sand and clear turquoise waters that offer a quiet and reclusive escape from the din of the city. This popular beach faces the open ocean and its safe waves make up for fun and pleasure, meant for all age groups. On the days, when the wind is not that strong, one can enjoy the best moments of swimming here. With an expansive stretch of beach, Playa Chac Mool offers you an ideal picnic space where you can enjoy for hours. The official hours for this public beach are from eight in the morning until six at night. Some of the other activities that you can enjoy around this beach are:

  • Directly across the street from Playa Chac Mool is Senor Frogs, a lively restaurant and bar that overlooks the Nichupte Lagoon.
  • Visit Coral Negro, a Mexican handicrafts market that is a short walk from Playa Chac Mool. The myriad of shops at this market feature traditional Mexican handicrafts from all over the country, from sombreros and clothing, to toys and handmade sculptures or statues.

Playa Chac Mool Reviews & Ratings

  • A busy public beach with all sorts of people and spaces there, from stylish to rubbish... The weather was good and the sun was shining over all equally, bringing joy and good times to all hearts and places. I love Mexico, the life is simple, the people are simple, sometimes I feel we don't appreciate the blessings we have being in the USA... It's no one's fault that they were borned in this country and that progress and life's quality might come generations latter if they ever will...

  • Super crowded and still beautiful. Weekdays are more spacious. Best time to go is in the morning before 11a.

  • Beautiful beach. Can obviously get pretty busy. The water is incredibly clear - even waist deep you can see the sand on the bottom. There are limited access points that are public not hotel

  • I like water, which is very crystalline and very white sand. it is a good place to go with your friends or family, and even your alone, to enjoy the sun and the sand and enjoy a delicious cocktail and a beer, immerse yourself in the water and simply enjoy and de-stress.

  • Love setting up my tent here for a day. Will say that other "campers" need to observe normal camping rules though, pick up after yourself, use bathrooms because they ARE available, leave it looking the same or better after you leave.
