The Greyfriars Chapel and Franciscan Gardens are the only remaining part of a Franciscan friar established in 1267. Historically significant, Greyfriars was the first Franciscan monastery in England. The chapel dates back to the 13th century and there is some debate still as to its original use. It may have been an infirmary. The charming gardens are divided into two parts due to a river that flows through them. If you want to escape the hustle bustle of Canterbury, head over to the Greyfriars Chapel and Franciscan Gardens.
