Great destination and quite affordable. The drive up is interesting and probably not for any nervous drivers. The walks are geared for people of all levels from the easy stroll of the tree top walk right the way to big 14km treks. The glow worms were great to see and or guide was really good. Food is on the expensive side but given the isolation, not unexpected. The infinity pool is a must visit! Great destination for everyone.
I stayed in the Mountain View accommodation with a single queen bed. The room was sized comfortably - not massive but not cramped. Highlights are obviously the view from the room (although the balcony could use some more privacy screening), the showers were amazing and the bed comfy. Highly recommended to spend at least a night here if you're looking to tick off multiple hikes. There are some shortcuts on hikes (to the top of Moran's Falls) for O'Reilly's guests that are accessible through the back of the resort (ask the staff about how to find these). The tours and activities offered through the retreat are great - the glow-worm tour is a must if you've never seen it before!
Lots of beautiful experiences await, some are free, some cost a bit. Definitely worth coming up here. Treetops walk and waterfalls are great. The bird feeding is so much fun. If you love birds, there are many beautiful birds here. Some even eat out of your hands if you are patient, well the parrots do anyway, but some of the smaller birds will also. Worth staying a couple of nights and longer.
This is a great place who really want to explore the deep rain forest in QLD. You must experience the 20km border trail walking. when you walk through out bush trails, you might feel the ancient spirit around you and it's like you are doing meditation while you are walking. be careful while you're swimming in creeks and falls , there're Lamington cray fish and snakes around water here. you required Grade 3-4 hiking skills. Ankle boots, snake protection gear and first-aid kit recommended, before you start your hiking in this range.
The bush walks are amazing. However we stayed in a villa and there were some major problems. The most concerning was the fire place tripping out the electrics so we couldn't use it. I am surprised this hasn't started a bush fire in the middle of the heritage listed rain forest. The phone didn't work so we had to use our mobiles to talk to management which were a 10min steep up hill trek to get to. This was no matter because management didn't seem bothered at all about our concerns. The place really needed a good clean and the rubbish taken out from the previous guest. None of the staff we came into contact with had very much experience but were friendly enough - apart from management. I would go back for the bush walks, it's a beautiful part of the world, but would never stay at their accommodation again.
