Weather permitting Cape Towns Cableway is always a picturesque outing. Unfortunately on the days that mother nature grants access to the mountain, all and sundry show up. Which is great news for our cities economy. Be prepared though for a small wait until your cable car arrives. Though not completely boring waiting, one can study the history of the Cable way, take pics of the very first carts used and take some breathtaking mountain shots. Once on top the mountain your world is transformed into a beautiful oasis of mountain top flora with the odd dassies and other wildlife sunbathing in the warm weather. Old structures adorn her flat table, and facilities are well maintained and clean, with an array of refreshments available. The beauty from this high is glorious and on exploring one can literally see every corner of Cape town. The carts are well designed and give you a calm sense of security. Tickets are well priced, but refreshments can be a little costly.
Don't miss this if you are visiting Cape Town, as it will give you by far the best views of the city. The ride up and down is fun, too, in a large cable car that holds 65 people. It can be very windy at the top and chilly in the colder weather months, so dress appropriately. Oh, and bring your camera. :)
Fortunately we had prepaid tickets. Went the first thing in the morning so the wait wasn't so bad. I understand you can wait up to 2 hours. Also, early morning is cooler and not as crowded.
Not worth the wait .. beautiful but not worth long wait time. The staff did not organize the crowd leading to increased delay. I don't think it was worth my 2 hr wait.
Going up the mountain is a fantastic thing to do. It's beautiful up there, and the view of Cape Town and the ocean are phenomenal. Don't go to Cape Town and not do this.
