What fun this was! Went up in thick fog so looked like we were heading into the clouds! Have been on it in glorious weather too so the views at the top are well worth the trip.
We waited over 45min for a car to the top because there was some kind of mechanical check or issue. No communication with the customers who were all waiting not sure if/when it will be resolved. Bus would have been much quicker and more reliable.
Organised and no queuing Pleasant journey. Pheoinal views in the city of Capri
Really beautiful, a must see, even on a whistle stop tour of the island.
My parents visited here and like the place. This is a mountainous island with no room for buildings, restaurants, cafes, and roads. Driving is restricted and much of the island is a pedestrians-only zone. The town is crowded, particular on midday when day-tourists are on the island. If you like a coffee on the plaza (Piazetta), getting one standing up at the counter is less expensive than when sitting down at a table. The boat trip the the blue grotto is a mass event and you spend time in a small boat line-up. Hiking the island is likely to be more worth your time. You could hike the Via Krupp, a steep narrow road from the sea board to the mountains built by a 19th century German industrialist. When staying overnight you may find that birds are shot at dawn or dusk, check for that. You may wake up to war zone noise. The island is an international tourist location and very expensive. On nearby Ischia, there are hot springs and spas exploiting the hot springs. Southern Italy is an area where the North African Plate subducts under the Eurasian Plate and there is a lot of volcanism. The supervolcano Campi Flegrei in Pozzuoli is nearby. The Campi Flegrei are Europe´s Yellowstone (note: Solfatara! di Pozzuoli).
