The Los Caobos Park near the Museum of Fine arts is among the oldest of the parks in the city of Caracas. In close proximity of the Los Caobos Park lie the Science Museum, Boulevard Amador Bendayan, Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex, National Experimental University of the Arts and the National Art Gallery. Founded in 1920, the park was formerly known as the Sucre Park. You will now find abundance of the big-leaf Mahoganies, some of which date back to the Colonial period. Sculpted by Carmen Cecilia Knight Blanch, the white marble statue of Teresa de la Parra is the highlight of the park. The Venezuela Fountain built by Ernesto Maragall is also striking with the human figurines depicting different regions in the country.
