The Parque Del Este or East Park is officially known as the Francisco de Miranda Park which was opened in the year 1961 within 200 acres of green pasture land at the mountain foothills. The park land has diverse landscapes namely the gentle undulating open grass fields, dense forestry penetrated by meandering trails and the paved garden area boasting of water structures and tiled murals. The Humboldt Planetarium with the Zeiss projector and the 20-metre dome is open to all. The zoo of the Parque Del Este houses capybras, jaguars, herons, ocelots, sloths, many species of parrots, green macaw, vulture, red-billed toucan, anacondas, crocodiles and many more. Other attractions include the replica Caravel of Christopher Columbus and the Corvette Leander.
