Cathar Castles, Carcassonne Reviews - Write a Review

  • Castle itself is good, but ticketing system leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly, there are huge queues to book a ticket so definitely book in advance online, unless you are a 18-25 European Union citizen, in which case entry is free but there is no mention of this on the online booking. We lost out €9 each due to this. Secondly, the tickets purchased say they are "valid for a year" but this isn't true - we were denied entry on the following day despite the e-ticket simply saying "valid 13/10/17 to 13/10/18" with no mention of it being entry on a single day only. The staff didn't seem to care about this error.

  • Bad welcome. You cannot buy tickets by AMEX. The closing time is 16h30. 17h00 is the final close. Anyway the view is great and nice visit but it might be better indicated.

  • One of the best places to visit in France. This place is amazing and has been beautifully restored. Well worth a visit.

  • Worth the admission. You can see the citadel, learn more about the 19th century reconstruction and climb on both the Roman as well as the medieval segmentd of the city walls.

  • Simply fantastic! Extremely well presented with amazing views. It has been beautifully restored. A must see!
