Living Desert Zoo And Gardens State Park, Carlsbad Reviews - Write a Review

  • This was a nice place to see. There are many exhibits, though seeing animals depends on the time of day and temperature. A morning visit would be advised. We were there around 12pm and it got hot quick, 103. There are some good views of parts of Carlsbad from points in the park. The gift store is very neat and has some nice items.

  • Very understated entrance that turns into a wonderful, informative and enjoyable walking tour of southwestern habitats. Great displays, and animal feeding times seemed to be between 3 and 4. Fun to watch the birds of prey eat and move around.

  • The place is set out as a series of different plant habitats and then many animal exhibits (a lot of which were empty at the time we visited). The visitor centre and the signs were very informative and the prairie dogs were very cute.

  • A beautiful garden and zoo. We had a wonderful visit here with my grandchildren. It is a little hilly, but there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the beautiful views. The rest areas are also pretty shaded. It was very hot the day we went. I would highly recommend this little glimpse of the largest desert in North America.

  • This a good place for a walk. All of the walkways are paved. Pretty scenery. Many of the exhibits have no animals in them to see. As a zoo, it is a near-total bust, but for 5 but you can't go wrong just walking through and looking the place over. In all, a plesent place to spend a couple of. Hours.
