Named after the state of North Carolina, USS North Carolina was the fourth warship of the US Navy. Heading the North Carolina class battleships, the ship was part of every important offense during the World War II, which also got her 15 Battle Stars for her immense service. Today, the ship has been converted into a museum. It takes around two hours to explore the ship and its interiors. Main deck, interior compartments and gun turrets are open for public viewing, along with the display of one of the OS2U Kingfisher aircraft. Events and reunions are planned annually, and restoration projects are carried out too. It is one of the most exciting museums, and a must-visit for all those obsessed with the World War era and history.
