About Joyeria Caribe Emerald Museum And Factory, Cartagena

In addition to the stores around town, the Caribe Jewelry firm has also set up a fascinating little museum. Covering the history of emeralds and emerald mining in Colombia, the engagingly chambers of this unexpected exhibit also have detailed and explanatory displays of the jewels themselves. There’s even a small exploration of the legendary city of El Dorado. Shopping for the jewels is a delight. As the company has its own factory, they will cut stones to your personal specifications if you don’t see something you like. And if the appraised value of the stone is less than what they charged you for it, just send them a copy of the appraisal, and they’ll refund you for the difference!

  • The museum is interesting and I learned a lot about emeralds. It's worth a half hour or more. I would have gladly spent more time on each exhibit but our guide kept moving us fairly fast. She was pleasant, and did not apply any sales pressure when she showed us the goods for sale. We will consider returning to take the jewelry making course for $90 each; this uses raw uncut emeralds.

  • Nice place to learn about emerald mining. It is owned by a jewelry store, so there is a store to buy emeralds if you want to. The place is well kept and prices are ok.

  • This is a very nice place!! I love it. High quality emeralds and the tour was good too.

  • The best!!!

  • Nice Museum, with interesting specimens..... Have to visit.
