About Casablanca Cathedral, Casablanca

One of the most spectacular sights you’ll see in Casablanca is the unused cathedral called the Sacre-Coeur Cathedral. Since mass is no longer held within the walls of the church, tourists flock the church to marvel at the fantastic piece of edifice the Sacre-Coeur Cathedral is. Reminiscent of a Neo-Gothic architecture style, the art deco sees a hint of Moroccan Muslim influence; the towers and the windows could be used in a mosque as well. Since the Sacre-Coeur was never the seat of the bishop, the interiors of the church are quite unimpressive, but if you do get a chance, climb to the top of the tower and catch a glimpse of the city and the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Take one of the poorest countries in the world and do what? Well obviously build a ginormous cathedral there. Why? Because this life doesn't matter; it's the next one that does. Except that any extravagance for the glory and resplendence of the church trumps mortal cares.

  • Unfortunately the Cathedrale was under construction, when we went there to see it. But if we are again in CASABLANCA, we would try again. Nearby is a nice park, but this is also under construction currently.

  • Magnificent replica of European architecture. One of the outstanding landmarks of French Colonization in Morocco.A place not to miss when in Casa!

  • i will be there in january or february. do you think it will be done by then? dont wanna miss this beautiful design building.

  • Completely blocked off for renovations with no obvious sign as to their completion. I'm sure it will be nice once restored but right now it amounts to no more than a construction zone.
