An amazing little stop on your way in/out of Portland on i-84. Definitely a great place to stretch your legs. Only a short .1 mile hike to the first bridge and a 1 mile hike to the top of the waterfall. Definitely bring a rain jacket even on a sunny day. The waterfall creates a lot ot moisture in the air at all times. The information center is home to a lot of great reading material about the area and the wildlife. Be sure to check it out if you have little ones to teach them about the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
We had to see this waterfall one of the highest in the United States. Unfortunately due to the wildfires we were confined to the lower levels of nevertheless it was a great experience. The waterfall is a vestige of the last ice age when the ice melted this small section was blocked producing Multnomah Falls. Multnomah Falls never goes dry giving visitors all year to enjoy its splendor. This is because it is fed by streams from the nearby mountains a local told me. Come and be awe.
This is a wonderful place to visit. Combines nature, hiking, and even memories from a good movie. A must see for all Oregonians and visitors to our beautiful PNW. Hike to top is measured at a mile but it is strenuous and can be extremely slippery at times. Not for the faint at heart or those not physically fit. Beautiful views.
Going from Portland to the far East side of Oregon quite often, Multnomah Falls was a frequent visit. You don't need to stay long in order to grasp how incredibly beautiful it really is. The trails are wonderful for a short hike, or if you'd prefer to stay at the bottom you would still get in amazing view. It is a beauty to behold and is a "must visit."
It was closed down after the first bridge. I do hate when nature closes, but this place never disappoints. A short little trip from Portland make this one of the easiest little majestic falls to access and see a beautiful thing. When was the last time you went to Multnomah Falls?
