Multnomah Falls Recreation Area, Cascade Locks Reviews
I love this place, I’ve gone here for hike since I was about four years old and love it just as much as I did then as I do now. I ate at the restaurant for the first time this past summer and was amazed at how delicious it was. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Only thing I don’t like is out of town or‘s who seem to be cranky from a long day on the road. I would recommend this place if your local, But if you’re not if you go here please treat everybody respect way.
The falls are pretty, but getting to them takes way too much time. The shuttle bus is advertised a lot... and you can only drive your car there on some days. The day we went, the shuttle was super full. We were told you could not drive there, but that was false. The wait for the shuttles was much longer than the walk to the falls. The falls are decent to look at... but there is not much to do there. The shuttle took 2 hrs and the falls took 20 minutes.
We had to park our car at Rooster Rock park (day pass to park is $5 cash). We caught a free shuttle to the falls. Shuttle ran ever 20 minute. It was busy as it was a Saturday in July. I have been to the falls in January too. In the winter it isn't crowded and you can park at the falls for free. Highly recommend, very pretty. Gift shop prices run higher than most gift shops. Head up to Vista House to over look the gorge. Free parking, no cost and the best view around. Gift shop has better prices than Multnomah Falls (they have items that say Multnomah at several $ cheaper than the falls gift shop)
Beautiful falls, very well taken care of. Well worth the stop. The shuttle could be a little quicker (more of them) as we waited 2 hours for one to get to the falls. If you can, go early in the morning or later in the afternoon - it will be a lot less crowded.
Must see when you are in Portland! The hike after the bridge was closed but views are spectacular from below and on the bridge. Decent snack and drink choices at the bottom. Gift shop is ok as well. Plenty of parking but if it gets crowded park at rooster park and take public transportation. Worth the small wait for the shuttle. Restrooms are decently maintained but not the best in Portland state park system
