The Castellum Aquae is one of the remarkable Roman castellum and is also known as the Castellum Divisorium de Nîmes. It is situated at the end of the Nimes Aqueduct that spans fifty kilometres and was used to bring water from the Eure Fountain to the then Roman city named Nemausus. Among the two castellum, now you can see only one of the Castellum Aquae on the side street with its evident features even from behind the fences. You will get to see the 10 openings around the tank walls, each having the diameter of forty centimetres. The water used to be carried through the leaf pipes connected to these openings.
