The Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge sprawling over 35000 acres comprises of wetlands, tidelands, woods and a plethora of fish and wildlife. Located near the mouth of the Columbia River, the reserve is home to thousands of ducks, geese Tundra swans along with Waterfowls. The Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge also acts as a nesting ground for the Bald Eagles that soar around the river in search of the Salmon fish, the juveniles of which take this part of the river as an acclimatizing area before entering the salt water. You can see the Harbor Seals, White Seals and Californian Sea Lions on the mud flats and the sandbars near the estuary. American Shad, Catfish, Pacific Lamprey, Bass and many other fishes are found here making the place a perfect fishing area. Whitetail Deer, Weasel, Beaver, Mink, Otter, Raccoon and Muskrat can be encountered in the woods.
