The story goes back to the 1970s, and you might be interested to know that it is quite romantic. Hugh Davis built the structure as a gift to his wife who had a hobby of collecting whale figurines. Soon, the sight became a favourite spot to swim for travellers as well as locals. Initially meant only for the family, Hugh soon built a small park around it and made it open to the public.
