Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary - Review
Perhaps this will be your most beautiful memory of Cebu, glorious butterflies flapping their delicate wings around you. The butterfly sanctuary is run by avid hobbyist and lepidopterist Julian Jumalon’s family, under the Jumalon Trust. An interesting and educational tour around the sanctuary takes you through the many phases in a butterfly’s life. Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary, Cebu City Reviews
Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary Mini Museum and Art Gallery provides a natural habitat of 56 butterfly species and scores of moths and associated fauna. Itself a veritable botanical garden, it has grown within the 1,460 square-meter enclosure more than one hundred plant species, some serving as part of the life-support system of butterflies in their larva stages. The Art Gallery houses the water color paintings and “lepido-mosaic” of Professor Jumalon. The Professor was the first Cebuano Fine Arts graduate of the University of the Philippines. He is the first in the Philippines to use damaged butterfly and moth wings and recycled them to become works of art which he named “lepido-mosaic”.
The perfect place to study, observe and learn about butterflies. every school's educational tours destination.
Beautiful neighborhood, so much different from Cebu city! It’s situated in a hidden corner of the street but totally worth visiting. Young and talkative guide will show you the garden, picture gallery and the butterfly collection. Entrance fee: 100 php.
Privately owned facility. Our guide spoke perfect english as well as tagalog, visayan and cebuano. He was very friendly and answered all our questions during the tour.
Educational and timeless! A novel and standout of its own...strongly recommend for those educational tours to continue the support!
