Just 130 kilometers southwest of Cebu City and about three hours bus ride, the Kawasan Falls is located inside the mountains of Barangay Matutinao, Badian. Silver cascades of waters drop down into gorgeous freshwater pools that beckon visitors to swim and explore the surroundings further. There are two main waterfalls and they are known for their turquoise blue water basins. If you can trek a bit to the second tier of the falls, you will find yourself away from the crowds of tourists and in true company of nature. You can even rent bamboo rafts that take you right under the waterfall.

  • I loved this place but what I hated the most is that they try to con us by raising the prices way above what was stated. We went there during the weekend and it is understandable that they will try to raise the price higher just to earn more but what they did was way too much. They started off by saying we need a tour guide to go into the waterfall which was not really necessary but we did hire one anyway just to be safe. Once inside, we needed to rent life jackets which was understandable since it is a waterfall and everyone was wearing it. There were signs that says life jackets were 100 I think. But when the tour guide came back with hear gears, shoes and life jacket, they wanted 800 per person which was very ridiculous. Initially we wanted to go up to level 2 and level 3 with the tour guide but they said the fee would be 1600 person which again is ridiculous. We ended up just renting shoes and life jacket and went up to level 2 on our own. This place is absolutely stunning but with locals that try to rip off tourists, it is terrible.

  • Lives up to the hype of the must visit places in Cebu. You can choose to "Canyoneer" or just visit the falls to be in awe of the natural beauty that meets you. You'll have to hike about 20 minutes from the parking area to reach the first waterfall. If this is all you intend to do, you do not need a guide... It's a straightforward walk on a mostly paved path. But if your heart is set on canyoneering, get proper equipment and guide. The people around are generally friendly and happy to help you out. You'd get typical Filipino cuisine, nothing fancy, at the waterfall. Keep this on your to do list when you are in Cebu.

  • Definitely one of the famous go-to places in Cebu. Thus: 1. NEVER GO ON WEEKENDS because most tourists (local or foreign) tend to crowd on these days. Your quality experience might be compromised. 2. Check rainfall! These photos were taken 1 day after rainfall. If you plan to get the SERENE BLUE KAWASAN FALLS, just make sure there had been no rain in the area for at least 2 to 3 days. The darker shade of water was because of soil erosion mixing with the water. 3. GET A LOCAL. Make sure you are with a person who speaks the local dialect. It would help you ease up your experience. Nevertheless, just make sure not to go/agree whatever the so called guides in the area tell you. I noticed some guides tend to overcharge or even trick some foreigner(non visayan) by charging 1.5 to 2 times the regular rate, and other means. Levels 2 and 3 are worth seeing as well, so try to explore the area!

  • Beautiful, but too crowded. Water temperature is great! Colder than sea water but it's not freezing!

  • Best time to visit the place is on a weekday. The place was a great escape for the weekend. Try canyoneering! It's hard and terrifying but an awesome experience indeed! The water is refreshingly cool and clean.
