The Basilica Menor del Santo Nino de Cebu or the Minor basilica of the Holy Child of Cebu, found in 1565 is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in the country. The current structure of the church is dedicated to Holy See as the “mother and head of all churches in Philippines. The church is under the care of the Augustinian Friars. With the ever increasing devotees, the church set up a Pilgrim Center with capacity of 3500 within the compound. Holy Mass and other religious activities are celebrated here in the open-air theatre like structure. The Church Museum displaying antique church furniture, chalice, altar table and church accessories as well as donated jewellery is located in the Pilgrim Center.
