Yap Sandiego Ancestral House - Review

This historic house is close to two centuries old. The house is owned by Maria Florido and Don Juan Yap and has been preserved beautifully. A visit here sheds light upon the lifestyles and architecture of people hundreds of years ago. Unlike a regular museum, the house is more informal and you even get to touch and feel the objects. Still retaining most of its original structure, the house is made of wood and stones. Visitors can see not just everyday dinner sets but also religious items and furniture that is as old as the house. It offers a great peek into traditional Filipino customs and lifestyle.

Yap Sandiego Ancestral House, Cebu City Reviews

  • Nice house full of antiques. They let you touch and picture everything, they even let you sit on the furniture and will take great pictures of you while touring around!

  • The house is amazing as this is one of the oldest house not only in Cebu. You can see the old things still usable. The guide is very helpful also and is great in taking pictures.

  • It's a cool place where you can find antiques take note it's a very old open house so it's kind of hot. I like how they let you touch the furniture and even sit on the chairs. The staff is very accommodating and would tell you the very interesting history of the place and how the owners takes care of the place

  • Considered on of the oldest residential houses in Cebu. We paid php 50 each for entrance fee and were greeted by a beautiful lady in traditional dress. The caretaker was very helpful also that aside from touring us around giving a bit of information on each side of the house, he was our official photographer and even suggested different poses. In all fairness his ideas and pictures were so creative and beautifully captured.

  • Very authentic Chinese traders home with the original 350 year old roof. Has held fast through years of quakes. The modest admission includes a tour guide who explains the history and that the owners still stay here on weekends. Allow 30 minutes unless you want to linger. Photos and touching are encouraged, unlike many other exhibit homes. I'm glad I went.
