Chad Overview

Bordered by Cameroon, Sudan and Libya, there is a lot that this humble little land locked nation has in store for anybody ready to explore it. Unfortunately, the fifth largest country on the continent is also one of the poorest in the World. The lack of jobs has given rise to the formation of many armed groups, but there is a lot of social work going on here trying to bring out the people affected by the cultural issues to get a better future. You can visit Chad to find the beauty covered in the blanket of poverty and despair or as a ray of hope to make a difference to at least one life that is struggling to find better means to live.

Visa Procedure

You can get a visa for this country from any of the near-by embassies and you can either go for a single entry visa or a multiple entry visa. It takes about a week for the procedure to be completed and no country is as such exempted from getting a visa. It is always advisable to re think your journey as the country is strongly affected by Boko Haram influence in the South and Libyan violence in the north.

When to go

The best time to visit Chad is during the months of November-May. This is the winter season and hiking across the country is not so troublesome during this time. The rest of the year is either wet or very hot. The summer season goes upto 45 degrees centigrade making it impossible to explore the country. During November-May, the season stays to a comfortable 25 degrees Celsius.

Destinations to cover

There are plenty of places to see and things to do in Chad. If you want to see resources and wildlife at its best along with some amazing cultural insights, then here are the places that you should be seeing. Make sure to include N’Djamena, Sarh, Faya-Largeau and Zakouma National Park is your Chad Travel guide. Some of the other places to definitely include in your trip planner are Am Timan, Bol, Ennedi Desert, Lakes ofOuianga, Tibesti Mountains, Aouk National Park and Goz Beida. As per travellers even the salt lakes of Quanianga Kebir close to Libyan border specially their sand dunes are really great to visit.

Get in and around

The country does not have a very efficient transport system. So if you are thinking of how to reach Chad, your options limit down to very few. The best airport to get in through is the N'Djamena airport. The best way to get around is through the buses which are much better than the abundantly available 4 by 4 mini vans. Apart from this you can rent a car from the capital city if you are planning to stay for long.

Hotels and Food

N'Djamena is the capital city of Chad where options are available for accommodation as well as food. Restaurants are available in plenty and there is a lot of typical African food that you can get here. There are various camp sites quite close to the Sahara Desert and are pretty amazing to stay at.
