La façade a été restaurée et les meneaux refaits. Des galeries sur croisées d’ogives donnent sur une première cour dans laquelle on remarquera un puits doté d’un important dais blasonné orné d’une coquille. Dans la deuxième Cour, se trouve la célèbre « galerie sur trompes » conçue par l’architecte lyonnais Philibert de l’Orme qui, pour réaliser cette prouesse technique, s’est inspiré des monuments antiques rencontrés lors d’un séjour à Rome en 1536.
