Though there is nothing much to see or do here, it is always good to know more about such a beautiful city. This place named after Col. Thomas G. Lamar, it was earlier on known as The Tower Battery. It was so named because of the very tall watch tower from where the army men used to keep a watch on the enemies entering the city.
In the Battle of Secessionville, the men of the Col. defeated the enemies and saved the city from going into the hands of the enemy and thus the fort was renamed. At present, the watch tower is used by tourists to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the surroundings.

Fort Lamar Heritage Preserve Reviews & Ratings
Smaller than I thought it would be. The main trail is slightly hidden and across the street from the parking area. Be sure to check the tide before you go. Would be absolutely beautiful at high tide. Be careful of broken glass, wear close toed shoes! Overall worth checking out if you are in the area.
It's a very nice neighborhood. Very well maintained. The park just wasn't that big. Pretty much just waterfront parking with one or two short trails that lead back toward the street. On the other side of the waterfront is a small wooded area, with a small walking trail as well. I did not go into this area, but it is safe to assume that it too is mostly for show.
Nice little short stroll. Good example of civil war battle area.
Nice place to visit.
Good bird watching
