This is the oldest Gothic Revival Church in the whole city. The church that is now listed in the Register of the National Historic Landmark was once banned due to the fact that it is a Protestant church. From the very earlier times only, the churches here are all under the Roman Catholic Diocese and Protestant churches are not at all common. This was the reason this faced a racist opposition and was closed down. It was again re opened many years later.
This is one fine example of design and architecture from the same architect who designed many an important building of the city and most importantly the City Market building. As you enter the church you will find very high ceilings and colored window panes with painted walls and porches. The church now holds regular services and also in English. This is remarkable as earlier on services were only held in French.
