This is a large area of square land completely covered with soft green grass. This is also known as the Green space of Charleston that is now owned by the Washington Light Infantry and the Sumter Guards. This was once a property of the Arsenal or the Old Citadel that was used as a parade ground for the student cadets.
Later on after the Arsenal was dismissed and the Citadel building was shifted to Old Charleston, this remained deserted for many years named as a property of Charleston University. It again came under the control of the citadel and again started to be used as an activity space by the military college. The main importance of this ground lies in the fact that the earliest army people of this nation were also trained on this historic ground and prepared themselves to be the heroes of the nation.

Marion Square Reviews & Ratings
Marion Square is a wonderful park to take a walk or have a picnic. If you need some fresh air this is a great place to breathe. This is also a really good event space and I have enjoyed some fun events here. I like to make my way here on a sunny afternoon and lay on the grass. Marion Square has it all in a park.
This is such a beautiful little park. The lights in the trees, the Christmas tree during the winter and the stage they set up for concerts. It’s a great place to have a picnic or take a stroll.
Spending time in the historical downtown area of Charleston is a treat in itself. The open market on Saturdays is a great way to pick up locally grown fruits and vegetables and products made with organic products. Goat cheese is a favorite of mine. The local farmers offer it as well as having many other vendors on site, makes for an enjoyable outdoor shopping experience
Super chill park between Market St and King St. Some dope statues and buildings around. Short grass is nicely kept. Took a nap and it was a great respite from a long hot day in Charleston.
Marion Square is one of my favorite parks in Charleston. It is great to have this wide open green space in the middle of everything to find a quiet spot to sit, walk, read, lay out, have a picnic, have a meeting, or get some work done. Marion Square has good wifi that is useful when you need to connect. This is also a great event space several times a year where some of my favorite big events in Charleston are held and it is perfect for that purpose and seems to fit everything just right. There is also a lot of history to this site as you can feel all of the years of Charleston surround you any time of the day. Overall this is a really awesome park that I like to visit and use regularly and enjoy.
