How to Reach Charlottesville
- By Air: Located around 16 kilometer away from the city downtown, Charlottesville Albemarle Airport is the nearest airport to Charlottesville. To reach the city, you will have to hire a taxi or rent a car. A few hotel shuttle services are also available at the airport. However, it is prudent to fly to Washington Dulles or Richmond airport since it proves to be more economical. You can then drive to the city of Charlottesville.By
- Rail: The Charlottesville station is located in between the Downtown Mall and the University of Virginia. It is situated on the Cardinal, Crescent, and Northeast Regional routes. It has two to three northbound as well as southbound trains stopping at the station. Since many hotels are located nearby the railway station, you can either chose to walk to them or hire a taxi.
- By Road: Two major highways, namely US-29 and I-64 allow you to enter Charlottesville. It is wise to take the I-64 highway since there is hardly any traffic on the road. If you are travelling from Richmond, Virginia, it would take you hardly an hour to reach Charlottesville. Travelling from Washington, you would reach Charlottesville in 2 or 2.5 hours.
- Charlottesville city buses called as Charlottesville Area Transit will allow you to move inside the city without much trouble. The frequency of the local buses is fairly good. You can also hire taxis or rent a car to be able to move around the city attractions at your will. There is enough parking available everywhere and is offered at reasonable rates.
