Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary was established when a local fisherman Orton “Brother” King decided to work towards saving hawksbill turtles. He makes sure that the eggs are saved from the poachers and young turtles are safe in his sanctuary when they are vulnerable. He is proud to have released more than 2,000 turtles in the ocean in the last 12 years. If you are looking for family-friendly things to do in Port Elizabeth, this is the place to be! Kids will enjoy watching hatchlings and learning about them.
