Love visiting this place....so much history. I've witnessed changes over the last 50 years. Still good restaurants and shops. Did you know they have real rail cars that are made into suites for customers to stay overnight....must say there pretty cool. Large swimming pool with slide. Check out the model railroad.... simply amazing. Check in station is actually in the old railroad station terminal. Take the bus down to the river front for tours of the aquariums and the downtown night life. Maybe catch a Lookouts baseball game.
The US Army Security Agency, Philippines enjoyed our military reunion at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel between September 24-27, '18. We were treated to Five Star service in all aspects. The hotel staff, especially Tonya Steele of the Sales Dept., made this reunion one of our most affordable yet classy experiences we have had in the past nine events. The rooms were clean and the queen beds very comfortable. The hospitality room was near our rooms on the first floor and were taken care constantly by the cleaning crew. We recommend this to all veterans looking for a nice place to have a reunion. Too add to a great one, contact the Bluegrass Cafe for an affordable and down-home breakfast buffet.
I think they were in the process of renovating. Hopefully that would explain the run down look. Check in was not a good experience. He appeared that he didn't want to help. It took forever. The room was acceptable but the smell was very musty as well as the hallway. The pool was not clear and uninviting. However, the pool area was very nice. Something out of the 30's or 40's. I feel the rating was generous. However, the experience was good in the fact that it was so historical. I would stay again. The old train station was so awesome.
Super cute hotel! Got to stay on one of the train cars. Kids loved it!!! While it was a little small, it was a great experience. Minus one star just because it really could use a coat of paint on the inside and the carpets need to be cleaned. Our feet were black and it made us feel a little dirty.
After the revitalization of the Chattanooga Choo Choo, it may have lost some of its historical value, but it gained a lot more Local Charm feel. They've added in several restaurants and a few clubs that keep the area Lively at night. Unfortunately they had to take away from some of the historical buildings in this venue. The hotel are now Apartments, but they still have the rail cars for you to stay in if you want to stay there for the night. This place is not the top of amenities, but it is a nice place to visit for a few hours. It is a bit overpriced for what you get when it comes to the restaurants, but it is free to come visit and take a look at the old trains. It's not what it used to be, and it's not worse or better, it's just something different.
