Mackinac Point Lighthouse started navigating in 1860. That makes it one of the oldest operational lighthouses around. Though it has not been in use since 1906, it has been preserved well. After an extensive restoration, it has been ceremoniously relighted in 2009. Today, it is open to the public seasonally and welcomes group and school tours.
