This is one of the largest railway stations I have seen , much bigger in area than New Delhi railway station as well. The access to this station is easy , either via Chennai locals or buses , access is very easy. Also very clean and secure, you can see policemen every now and then .
Well located - connected to most part of the city. Prepaid autos and taxis are easily available. Lots of eating places and every possible cusine available. Not extremely clean but it's not a garbage dump either. Overall the accessibility, food options and plenty of seats make it a comfortable experience
Half of Chennai's population seems to be in this Station :p More seats are to be provided for the passengers. Food stalls and Books shops are plenty and good. AC waiting hall is located on the first floor and it is a bit difficult to carry all the luggage over stairs.
Good place for rail commuters. But lower grade in hygienic matter. You can see garbage everywhere. Low maintenance by Indian railway. There is some difficulties to transit from rail station to bus stop due to metro rail project is under construction. There is two stations here namely Chennai central for Interstate and Chennai central suburban for intercity. Many people get confused to buy tickets because tickets are available at suburban station for Chennai central. There is no ticket counter separately for Chennai central.
Always a nice place. Has modern high tech facility and at the same time can see the old way of handling. In total a place I relish in coming!!
