Perched picturesquely atop a hill, the Kundrathur Murugan Temple or South Thanigai, is said to be that place where Lord Subramaniar or Murugan stayed, as and when he travelled to Tiruttanigai. It derives its second reference as South Thanigai from the fact that the statue of Lord Murugan is erected facing the northward direction. Further, the temple’s significance lies in its being “the only Murugan temple in Tamil Nadu where the God is standing in a north facing direction”. The temple is another brilliant construction from the reign of the Cholas.

I am not sure, but I think the facilities to tonsure and bathe are available at the Kundrathur Murugan Temple. But, it is recommended that you ask the locals to confirm before visiting.
