About Kundrathur Murugan Temple, Chennai
Perched picturesquely atop a hill, the Kundrathur Murugan Temple or South Thanigai, is said to be that place where Lord Subramaniar or Murugan stayed, as and when he travelled to Tiruttanigai. It derives its second reference as South Thanigai from the fact that the statue of Lord Murugan is erected facing the northward direction. Further, the temple’s significance lies in its being “the only Murugan temple in Tamil Nadu where the God is standing in a north facing direction”. The temple is another brilliant construction from the reign of the Cholas.

Kundrathur Murugan Temple, Chennai Reviews
Nice and clean temple. Quiet on most of the days. There is parking space on top of the hill and on the base as well. Around 60-80 steps to ascend from base. If you cannot climb, use the road on the side to drive up the hill. The newly built roof around the temple has made the place bit stuffy and hot. But helps escape the sun 😊😊. Kids will love this place as it's breezy and lot place to run around.
Great Murugan temple located on top of the small hill. Nice and Well maintained... Devotees can reach the temple from bottom through steps or drive the vehicles directly to the top hill...so everybody can reach the temple easily...You can see this place in many films including Emdun magan...
One of the oldest temples of lord Muruga in Chennai. Located on the hill, and away from the city, it is well connected by road. The temple looks bigger after the addition of the outer Praharam, views are great from the top of the hill. There is enough parking space. The temple maintenance is good. This temple featured in many movies in the past.
Pretty peaceful experience. There's 2 car parking one at the bottom one at the top near temple. Only few steps needed to reach the top. Must visit holy place.
A beautiful temple located atop the small him. Good place to visit along with kids . Lord Murugan
