Perched picturesquely atop a hill, the Kundrathur Murugan Temple or South Thanigai, is said to be that place where Lord Subramaniar or Murugan stayed, as and when he travelled to Tiruttanigai. It derives its second reference as South Thanigai from the fact that the statue of Lord Murugan is erected facing the northward direction. Further, the temple’s significance lies in its being “the only Murugan temple in Tamil Nadu where the God is standing in a north facing direction”. The temple is another brilliant construction from the reign of the Cholas.

Kundrathur Murugan Temple, Chennai Reviews - Write a Review
Good place and u will feel the vibration of the temple. You have nice parking lot in the top. Need not to worry for the old people to go top. Usually there will be crowd in the weekends, with this crowd you can't expect 100% cleanliness right but I would say it is well maintained.
A peaceful place . Free parking facilities. Cars and bikes can go till the top of the hill.nearby temples are siva and Vishnu temple. Nearby bus stand is Kundrathur bus stand.
Good place to visit. Free space for parking. Can Peacefully pray d god murugan.
