Perched on this quaint hillock of Little Mount or Chinnamalai, the Little Mount Church holds high significance. It is believed to be the place where St Thomas, an apostle of Jesus lived and preached while he was in India. Later, the Portuguese built a church here in the 1551 AD for St Thomas. And there is a belief that in the year of 68A.D. the Holy Shrine originated here too.
You can take your pick, but the church makes for one mesmeric Chennai attraction. The highlight of this church remains to be a small cave with a human footprint on, that is believed to be of St Thomas. Following this belief there is a notion of him even still living in the church. One church, where the history lovers will have a great time.

Little Mount Reviews & Ratings
The Catholic Shrine in Little Mount is a part of Chennai's history. The hillock encompasses a cave, where St. Thomas would hide from his enemies. The miraclous spring which sustained him during his stay is still yielding water. There are many relics associated with him. A new garden with the stations of the cross has been just installed. It will make a pilgrimage complete. You can access the church by steps, or drive up, but watch out for the narrow road, lest you miss it. A must for every first time visitor.
It's a great historic place. The imprints of the mark of the hands and feet is on the stones believed to be of St. Thomas the Apostle. This place also contains the first hand relic of St. Thomas.
A very historical place which had been restored beautifully. They have made a way underground to reach the tomb of St.Thomas which was earlier visible only through a glass window near the altar
It is historical Catholics Church. It is under Madras Mylapore Dioceses. Excellent place to visit. Everyone have to visit in their life time at least one time. Attached images are neweley created the way of the Jesus and 12th station of historical way of cross.
I am having severe arthritis but by the grace of God, I managed to climb the stairs on my knees. Praise the Lord. Alleluia. Amen.
