About Little Mount, Chennai
Perched on this quaint hillock of Little Mount or Chinnamalai, the Little Mount Church holds high significance. It is believed to be the place where St Thomas, an apostle of Jesus lived and preached while he was in India. Later, the Portuguese built a church here in the 1551 AD for St Thomas. And there is a belief that in the year of 68A.D. the Holy Shrine originated here too.
You can take your pick, but the church makes for one mesmeric Chennai attraction. The highlight of this church remains to be a small cave with a human footprint on, that is believed to be of St Thomas. Following this belief there is a notion of him even still living in the church. One church, where the history lovers will have a great time.

Little Mount, Chennai Reviews
One of the famous historic and holy Church in Chennai. St Thomas who was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. St. Thomas Cave - is believed to be the place where St. Thomas lived and preached. The cave has a small opening which once led to a tunnel through which the apostle is believed to have escaped his assailants. It's so dark and cool in here even when it's blazing hot outside.
Must visit place in Chennai. The tomb church is one of the three places in the world builted on the cemetery of a saint. Museum in the tomb church is very informative and gives the history of Catholics and St. Thomas in India. Wonderfully builted in Neo Gothic style by Portuguese.
Place of holiness and peace... There is a cave like place ,believed as where St Thomas was hid when he was in his last days...it's a shrine actually and nice place to visit

One of popular churches in the locality! It is built around the cave where in which st Thomas, an apostle of Jesus Christ was martyred. It has a cave wherein st thomas prayed and his purported foot and hand prints can be seen on the rock surface
