Madras Crocodile Bank, Chennai Reviews
Lots and lots and lots of crocodiles. Different species. Good to go on a non sunny day. There are a couple of snakes and turtles as well. The big alligator in aquarium is a wonder. Real fun. There is a show for venom extraction from snakes. Not my cup of tea. There is an overpriced curio shop at the exit. But then it has some cute t-shirts and other gift items. They have plants on sale as well. Ticket price is 60/- for adults and less for children. Don't really remember. There is a Youtube video showing what's it like inside. I suggest see it and if you like it then definitely go visit it.
You will find many marsh crocodiles here. The count of other crocodile species is just one or two. But it's an amazing experience. They even have a snake venom extraction show. Apart from crocodiles, they have few reptiles as well like snakes, iguana,... Even tortoise and turtle of different kinds
An amazing and recommended place for all animal and reptile lovers. Children should be taken and will find it highly informative and fun. Just outside Chennai on the East Coast Road. Different types of snakes, rescued from the surrounding villages and large number of crocodiles are present in the farm. A must visit for young and old alike. It is recommended that small donations be made as per individual parameters as the premises is supported by ticket sales and donations only and is doing a great job.
This is a small but well maintained Crocodile Park. They have around 200+ crocodiles in this enclosure, with one giant crocodile that the enclosure staff have lovingly named 'Jaws', which is about 8-9 feet long! They have representatives from the Madras Heptopology Conservation Centre who are experts and gives you a brief about the crocodiles, their behaviours and some really cool facts. They also have a snake park, with a venom extraction program which is available for the public to see and experience snakes realtime. Great place to go with kids and family. Doesn't get too tiring since the enclosure is not too huge. The only drawback is the parking availability which is literally non-existent. You would have to park technically on the highway which is not exactly safe and they even charge you Rs. 20 for that. But otherwise a really nice and educational trip. A definite must visit!
Nice place to spend your leisure time if you are a wildlife enthusiast. You get to see a wide variety of crocodile ranging from Indian variety to American Alligator. The most interesting thing is the Large old tortoise. You if are passionate about snakes then you will have a perfect feast over there, where you could see the process of extraction of snake venom. All this could be enjoyed at affordable price.
