St Andrew's Church - Review

According to facts, there was an existence of a substantial Scottish community in Chennai through the 18th century. The St Andrews Church in Chennai’s Egmore neighbourhood was an instituted to serve this community. The church’s architecture found inspiration from London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields, an English Anglican church. Thus, depicting the striking characteristics of the Neo-Classical architecture. The all-white, circular church with blue interiors and peculiar stained glass windows, is indeed one of the best sights of Chennai. The name too is derived from the Scottish word, “Kirk”, which means church in English.

St Andrew's Church, Chennai Reviews

  • Nice place with a lot a space for parking... The highlight is the large ground that can be used like auditorium.

  • Probably one of the best architectural marvels amongst church buildings in the world. The grandeur and enormity of the structures especially the pillars, both outside and inside the church make you feel humble and gives you a perspective of the place that you hold with this life in this multiverse. Services are all in English and western styled. Unlike the recent churches that make church service an English rock show service at this church is calm and soul stirring. Many good old people to speak to and get volumes of knowledge. A must visit place for any person who is in search of himself or as a traveling stop.

  • The church premises has a vast open lawn - suitable for huge family function - really I can feel peace on having a look at the cathedral premises and it's lush vegetation

  • Its takes me before my time with its architectural beauty. The fellowship is monumental as well..would always cherish the messages and use wisely..

  • Not worth a visit, I went there after going through the description provided by thrillophilia, however the church was located in a narrow street. I didn't go inside as it appeared like a primary school for kids. Thrillophilia, please make improvements in your suggestions!
