Jardin public (The public garden) of Cherbourg is a 1.7 Hectares Park built in 1887. The park is located at avenue de Paris, at the foot of the mountain Roule, which offers the visitors a place of relaxation. From its base descends a source that feeds a pond full of ducks and swans. It has a zoo with aviaries of goats and deer. The war memorial with a Descatoire bronze statue was inaugurated at the site in 1924, and the bust of Jen-Francois Millet in 1892. The garden has been enriched with new species over the time; an educational farmyard has also been raised. The site also boasts of a beautiful rose garden, which is composed of over 67 varieties of the flower.
