Located mid slope on the side of Roule, La BatterieRoule (The Battery of Roule), has 4 bunkers for 105mm cannons, a firing post. A trek to the heart of the mountain Roule, leads to discovery of this picturesque environment where you will discover a part of fortification dug during World War II. The purpose of the underground fortification was to protect the largest artificial harbour of Cherbourg. The building and its basement have been classified as a historic monument since 1995. Visitors are offered Caving helmet with a headlamp for the tour, which is supervised by the staff members.Highlights and must sees include:
