La Cite De La Mer is a maritime museum in Cherbourg city of France. Built in 1933, this marvellous museum tells the tale of Man’s adventure under the sea. The museum is located in the Cruise terminal of Cherbourg, and was reopened in 2002 as a scientific and historical museum. One of the major attractions of La Cite De La Mer, is the Titanic exhibition, dedicated to the majestic streamliner and its entire journey from its inception to destruction. The Redoutable, French Navy’s first SSBN submarine is kept here, which makes it the world’s largest submarine in the world open for public exposition. You can also listen to the Captain of the submarine talking about his life on board and sharing his experiences. The museum also has a 10 metres high and 8 metres wide, cylindrical aquarium, which displays the successive marine life forms in order of the depth at which they exist. There is a fascinating underwater expedition for the visitors, inside a digitized building. Highlights and must sees include:

Loved it! Knocks spots off Le Havre. Quaint little streets and alleyways, lovely cafes for coffee and pastis, pretty marina, old buildings and churches yet a good modern shopping centre. Would love to come back in spring!
Really great museum with beautifully presented aquariums and a good variety of sea life, and extraordinary opportunity to visit a submarine which does a great job of bringing the vessel to life. Whizzed through the Titanic exhibition but my better half said it was very evocative. Visited with our two and a half year old who really enjoyed the aquariums and the bouncy castles outside. Highly recommended for a three hour visit before catching the ferry back to England.
Had a great day out. La Redoubtable sub was our main reason to visit and we were not disappointed. 18€ per adult which had 4 exhibits. Walking into the depths was a laugh and worth the 50 minutes, there was an exhibition of the Titanic with some explanations in English and the aquarium was fun. Fantastic place for families.
Excellent tour of the Redoubtable. Get the audio guide so you know what you're seeing onboard. Kids loved it!
This was a good museum. We particularly enjoyed the submarine tour which was interesting and fun. All in English.
