  • Paid for the paranormal investigation tour. Honestly a disappointing mediocre experience at best. Apparently they overbooked when we visited and so we began late as they worked to get more staff to accommodate. Online it says not to worry about bringing anything as it can be provided. They did not provide flashlights and had very little "ghost hunting equipment." Half of what they had was broken. Our guide kept using on of the few pieces for themselves and we had to ask to use it which was awkward. Very little history. Once you do the basic starting tour you are pretty much left to explore the building without any further descriptions or information. Guides we had tried to jump scare people on multiple occasions and were generally unprofessional. Really disappointed and other guests we spoke to were as well. We ended up leaving early. I guess if you are a ghost hunter who is already knowledgeable about the campus and have your own stuff its probably fine. Otherwise if you are going there to learn the history or be able to have a fun first time ghost hunting experience I wouldn't recommend Penn Hurst. It'll just be you walking around with your phone flash light on clueless. Really wondering what I paid $100 for.

  • If you are looking for a good scare around Halloween, this place is definitely worth the money, even though it is a bit pricey. I recommend all the attractions besides the self guided ghost hunt. In reality it is a roped off tour of a building. I did not see any ghosts when I went, but maybe you will get lucky. Even though it is a go out your own pace, self guided ghost tour, in reality it is completely roped off, keep going this way, with tons of other people around so you don't really even get to stop. So if you go, do all the other attractions besides the self guided ghost tour. The other attractions are amazing, be aware, the actors are allowed to touch you and get close to you, but they will never hurt you or touch you inappropriately. Also, they take their profession very seriously, so please be respectful to the actors. The first time I went I was definitely always nervous walking around the next corner. They do have a couple areas of "intense" lighting or some fancy strobe effects, so be cautious if you have any problems with that. I hope you do go and have an amazing time.

  • It was really cool but i do feel like they push you through too fast for what you pay

  • Attended an overnight ghosthunt and it was truly amazing. Got a great extensive tour and history lesson of the grounds. Was given plenty of time to explore on my own through the tunnels and some building. Amazing place and great overall experience!! Can't wait till my next visit

  • We booked in for a rare photography event and had an incredible day exploring the buildings and grounds! Words can't describe it - it just has to be experienced. The staff was also super friendly and so knowledgeable about its history - it was great speaking with them and hearing the stories. This property is privately owned and proceeds from all events go towards its preservation and maintenance so it is absolutely worth a visit and worth supporting anything they put on. One day was not enough to take all the pictures we wanted to, so we look forward to returning and seeing what's new as the preservation continues. Love this place!
