Nestled amidst Suthep mountain, filled with dye and fruit trees is Studio Naenna whose main gallery is the home to their popular dye shop, offices, Karen weavers and showrooms. It is here that the creative process starts for the embroidery and brocade done using eco-cotton and luscious silk and the handwoven textiles in Ikat. Studio Naenna honours the more than 2000 year traditions when producing textiles of the highest quality. Activities are organised throughout the year including weaving workshops, indigo dye workshops, exhibitions and so much more.

  • I would definitively recommend this place: I've heard about them in Berlin, hearing a presentation of Lamorna Cheesman (designer and manager of the place). As textile Student I came here for a " one week Backstrap Loom Workshop" I felt really welcomed and i learned a lot, bringing at home a really beautiful woven piece. Sripai, who give me the workshop was really helpful and patience. From what i know they also organize Indigo Workshops, sounds also really interesting. This place has a long tradition and knowledge about Thai-Lao textiles. You can learn a lot about the whole process hidden behind a beautiful textile piece. I was mostly fascinated in the ethic of Studio Naenna, producing in a traditional and handicraft way (with a big respect of the women's producing it) and with natural materials (like natural dies). And of course the pieces they produce are incredibly beautiful, and is definitively worth to know more about the incredible work that is in each one. Elena S.

  • Great place to experience indigo dyeing

  • Located north west of town on a cool shaded lane. Beautiful high quality clothing and yardage available. The hand on indigo harvest and dye workshop is excellent.
