Thai Akha Cooking School In Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Reviews
I've done the Local Fresh Market Tour and I absolutely loved it! We explored a local market like locals and were able to try everything we wanted. It's so perfect if you want to feel more daring at markets and get a proper introduction in Thai food. Forget your Tom Yum, here you're going to try dishes you can't even pronounce :D I can only give you the tip to be daring. I had such delicious food I'd never dare to even order if I'd be in a market on my own. Try the Pig Tail if you can, it's super yummy! I can really recommend this tour to everyone who visits Chiang Mai!
AMAZING experience. Everyone is so kind and friendly. JJ is an awesome chef who has great energy. Here (for the morning class) you'll check out an authentic marketplace, trying new foods you wouldn't know to try otherwise. JJ explains all the ingredients and which dishes they're used for. He explains the culture and cuisine of his people (Akha tribes). The cooking class is great and the food is delicious (a LOT of food -- come hungry!) One of the highlights of my trip to Thailand! A must-do
We had an excellent time. We went to the evening class. Taxi picked us up as promised. Made 11 dishes and got a cultural experience as well. Highly recommend.
Had a great experience at the evening cooking class. Cooked 11 dishes, including three Akha traditional dishes, two desserts, and two appetizers. Loved making a curry paste from scratch with fresh ingredients. Niti was a funny, knowledgeable instructor who made us all feel successful, regardless of previous cooking skill. Class is well-paced with several opportunities to eat with cooking classmates. Bring extra money for beer (50-80 Baht) or soda (20 Baht). Can't wait to try the recipes from the recipe book at home.
After looking at classes I found this one. They were great with accommodating my 7 yr old son as my helper free of charge which the other ones weren't without a fee. We started in the markets trying food which by myself I would have be too scared to do. She explained the culture and method behind the food we tried. The selection to choose from was amazing, and watching her teach the class while we were doing 4 different curries at the same time was impressive( being a chef myself I know it's no easy task) I would highly recommend this cooking school. She made us feel very welcome and the set up was amazing.
