  • It's a German themed Christmas market for short. Plenty of food to try here, souvenirs, crafts, handmade and commercial trinkets along with music. Only available for a short while but it's definitely a fun place to visit and bring along friends. Place looks nice at night with all the lights but it's also packed. It's more relaxed and calm during the day.

  • Such a fun seasonal tradition in Chicago before Christmas! Lots of unique gifts, food, and drinks. Definitely get the Glüwein, it's delicious. There will, however, be TONS of people no matter when you go. Be prepared for Disneyland-level crowd density. That being said, it's a great time, and a must see if you're in Chicago before Christmas!

  • Pros include the lights, smell of cinnamon nuts, and the style of the shops. Cons include the sheer magnitude of people jam-packed into the seemingly tiny walkways, forcing people to continuously collide into each other. Prices for goods are outrageous (to be expected in a popular downtown event like this, but still). I enjoy coming here to mainly walk through for 2 minutes to experience the pros. Any longer than 2 minutes, and the cons have me looking for an exit back to the street.

  • The Christkindlmarket in Chicago downtown is the first one in the area. It is always good to visit, but avoid it on a weekend. I tried last year and couldn't get a foot onto the ground there. It was way too busy. Best to be enjoyed at a windy cold weekday night, if that is your kind of thing. Otherwise, you can't get it any more authentic outside of Germany, I really recommend it.
