Lurie Garden is the brainchild of Kathryn Gustafson, Piet Oudolf, and Robert Israel. It opened in the year 2004 and is a definite must visit for a simple recreational day. It is a great digression from the usual bustling life of Chicago. This lush green garden is all you need to spend a quiet day by yourself connecting with the nature. Lurie Garden is considered as one of the best gardens in the city. Also the availability of colors is what makes it so visually appealing.

  • One doesn't expect to see an authentic meadow in the middle of one of the world's largest metropolis. At no charge. It was in full glory in late summer. The diversity was spectacular, and not lost on the many bees and butterflies collecting the abundance of floral rewards for their pollination services. At one point, I interacted with a guide, who gave me very interesting information about specific plant species. For the kids, there is an artificial stream running through the garden, and on this hot humid day, both parents and kids were sitting on the granite blocks, dipping their feet.

  • All the spring flowers are in bloom, and this place is beautiful! You can smell the narcissus, as their fragrance fills the air. A mallard bathed in the stream and looked expectantly at the people on the boardwalk; eventually some folks came with bread and the duck had his snack.

  • Well maintained gardens with gorgeous flowers. Has security and is close enough to the pavilion that you can enjoy the music without being in the crowd.

  • It’s so beautiful garden flowers especially has so many kind of flowers! I went there in midsummer it was so many butterflies, bee and another insects. I wish I wanted to go there again!

  • the garden is absolutely beautiful . there is a small creek and you can dip your feet in but you can’t play in it . it’s so nice that there’s a beautiful garden next to the city !
