A part of the Museum Campus Complex, this place draws over two million visitors annually. Yes, there are crowds, but it’s totally worth it. Opened in 1929, the aquarium at the moment houses some 20,000 animals covering 1500 species. Expansions have led to added exhibits, which includes the Carribean Reef and the Oceanarium. Whales, Otters, Seals and Dolphins are common sights here, as are other exotics. This place is really kid-friendly, as all shows and exhibits are geared towards education. Ask the staff pretty much anything related to the museum and they’ll provide you with a lethora of information.

I love to be at the Aquarium today the New Year Eve. So much has been changed since the last time i visited the Aquarium. More lights installed with a wonderful Dolphin and Beluga whale show. I am impressed with the Jelly Fish room. So beautiful place to be in and learn. I definitely come back for Summer break.
One of the perks of living in Chicago was that on select days throughout the year, Illinois residents with a valid ID receive free admission. It may be insanely busy these days, though. The management did pretty good work as the visitors could buy the tickets online, printed them out, and pass through the designated entrance for online customers to avoid the long waiting line. Everything inside was incredible and extraordinary. There were dolphin and Beluga whale shows, which were not included in the ticket. Best places for families with kids to have fun and learn about the world.
City pass is a good idea! Skip the long line and gain access to so much more! The whole family really enjoyed the Shedd. So much to see that time just flies by. The dolphin show was amazing. I've never seen them jump that high before! Sharks in 4D, the Aquariums, and every display was very captivating. I definitely recommend going even if you've been before. It is also nice having the Shedd, Field Museum, and Planetarium all within walking distance.
Love from first sight for little and big. The building is magnificent and aquariums are fantastic. The dolphin show is amazing and my kids reactions were - wow this, wow that... keeping the wonder in life and helping us realize what an amazing artist mother Earth is.
I was really impressed with the Shedd Aquarium from the variety of animals that they have to the quality of their exhibits as well as the overall entertainment value for the rather high admission price. You will easily be able to spend 4-5 hours here with all of the species of sea life that they have. The beluga whale and dolphin show was cute and interesting though I certainly hope that these animals do have larger tanks in the back. I also want to commemorate Shedd for having and being able to maintain a deep sea exhibit with animals from the ocean floor. Not everyone can do that. I would highly recommend this place as it is very educational and very fun.
