A part of the Museum Campus Complex, this place draws over two million visitors annually. Yes, there are crowds, but it’s totally worth it. Opened in 1929, the aquarium at the moment houses some 20,000 animals covering 1500 species. Expansions have led to added exhibits, which includes the Carribean Reef and the Oceanarium. Whales, Otters, Seals and Dolphins are common sights here, as are other exotics. This place is really kid-friendly, as all shows and exhibits are geared towards education. Ask the staff pretty much anything related to the museum and they’ll provide you with a lethora of information.

Great place to take the kids, go for a date or by yourself. Many types of fish, squid etc can be found here. The food they offer for purchase isn't bad either. You can even buy cute souvenirs here. I would highly suggest eating outside if you have the opportunity to do so because the views are amazing. If you have the opportunity attend a Jazzin at the Shedd event. It is perfect for a date night event even if you don't like Jazz!
A very nice and informative place to go with family. It has many sections, but the best for the price would be the dolphin show. It's an experience. Apart from that, they have a 4D show as well. You can choose from three movies to watch. The effects are pretty good. One main thing to look out for are discount days. You can get free entry on that day. And a total experience pass for just 15$.
We took our almost 2 year old on a free day. It was not as packed as everyone said it would be! We paid the $15 upgrade for the total experience which was worth it. The Wild Reef is beautiful. We watched the prehistoric 4-D movie which was awesome. Our 1 yr old wouldn't wear the glasses but she still watched the movie. And then we saw the dolphin show. But she loved The penguin play area! The drive was over an hour and I don't think the basic entry is worth paying for. Parking in their lot is $22!! This place is very "go big or go home" because the extras are obviously the best to see.
One of my favorite places that I visited while in Chicago! So much to see and do, I've come here both times I've been to Chicago. I absolutely love the interior and exterior architecture of the building. Amazing view of Chicago from the museum as well.
Unbelievable world-class museum! The customer service, however, was consistently underwhelming. It was very disappointing to be in one of the best museums of the world and experience some of the world's least impressive staff - from the ticket sales to the restaurant to the 'Starbucks' coffee servers. Lots of room for improvement people. Beyond that I really loved the museum.
