About Chittorgarh Fort, Chittorgarh
For the tourists who are not aware of the history of Chittorgarh, this fort might come across as just beautifully preserved ruins. However, the ones who are aware would know that this is one of the sites that have defined the Rajputana pride and valour in India. The city as well as the fort are so well woven in the history of Rajasthan that there have been many tales and ballads that testify their glory. Chittorgarh Fort is an expansive fort built on the hilltop and is one of the most beautiful forts in India. Covering an area of 700 acres, this fort is actually a complex that houses many other royal structures and temples inside such as Kumbha Palace, Sringar Chauri, Fateh Prakash Palace, Kirti stambha and many others. Connecting all these points within the fort is the serpentine road which is quite steep and exhaustive to walk. In order to enter this fort, you will have to cross through seven huge gateways or 'pols', guarded by watch tower and massive iron spiked doors.

Chittorgarh Fort, Chittorgarh Reviews - Write a Review
Beautiful place, great history of courage and sacrifice told through the ruins that are left behind. Impressive structure nonetheless. Restoration process is ongoing currently for the museum. The light and sound show is something that one shouldn't miss. The Fort is one of the largest forts in the world and a guide would be highly recommended for better understanding of the place..
The way you enter in the fort was awesome & thrilled also. If you are having a motor vehicle, u are gonna having much adventures. Everytime when you entered in each Fort, you will get more fun and enjoyment. There are many more monument in which you enhance your knowledge about your history.
Excellent historical place. Difficult to get English speaking guide. The guide trick you to enter in shop. Lot of walking and climbing. You need lot of time. Sad to see people dumping garbage everywhere. Beware of shops cheating.
This is one of the largest forts. This has been declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Mostly ruins are remaining now but you can get the idea of how massive it would have been from looking at the place. There are lot of temples that still remain and have beautiful carvings on their walls. It is spread over about 10-13 KM in area so lot of walking/stairs climbing would be required. Most preferable way will be to get a vehicle and visit through that. Alternatively you can book auto rickshaw from city centre and can talk for complete tour. Auto rickshaw cost would be around Rs.300 (Negotiate) for 1.5- 2 hours of tour. Make sure to discuss in advance of all the spots you prefer to visit as some auto rickshaw people will visit only some specific places and not all. Do hire guide so as to know the relevance of the place. Guide cost will be around Rs.300-400. Chittorgarh is well connected to nearby cities - Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur, so transport would not be a problem.
The fame it deserves is not for anything. It is one of the biggest and historically rich fort. There are various points worth seeing in Chittorgarh and you can see most of them on the fort. Do not miss the light and sound show which is at 7PM in the evening on the fort.
