Completed in 1954, the Chongqing People’s Assembly hall was built under the orders of Marshal He Long with the aim to accommodate domestic and overseas guest. Also known as the People’s Auditorium, it is the largest auditorium in Chongqing.

The People’s Assembly Hall’s architecture is remarkable. Spread across an area of 66 thousand square metres, the complex uses modern techniques to put on display an imposing and beautiful oriental piece of work. The hall is hugely inspired by the architectural styles of the Ming and Ying dynasties which are only fitting to represent Chongqing. Scarlet pillars give it a sense of strength while the green tiled dome makes it look royal. The 65 meter height hall has the capacity to accommodate 4000 people at once. Minute detailing can be observed on the structures that make up this grand structure.

The hall is surrounded by manicured lawns and luxuriant trees which add to its splendour. Right in front of the hall is the Chongqing People’s Square with people bustling about at all times and wonderful musical fountains.
