This is short but sweet tourist attraction. It's basically a short train ride, but you take it in a 1949 locomotive and rails themselves were laid down down in the late 19th century. The trail is about 18 kilometers long, and stretches between the cities of Ouro Preto and Mariana. The train will take you to some beautiful countryside. Sit on the right hand side of the train for the best views - mountains and waterfalls and forests.The insides of the carriage themselves will be wooden, fashioned after the trains of old. There are two types of wagons that you can ride in: Conventional and Panoramic. The body of the panoramic wagon is more open, allowing for better views of the countryside.

• Free for children under 5.
• Half price for children aged 6 to 12 years, adults over 60, and students.
