This is the most important town square of the city. The place is probably the busiest out of all as it is the center of all activities of everyone. The place is filled with shops, restaurants, offices, clubs and much more. Initially before this place was set up in this way, there was first an Indian mound and later a butcher’s market that was replaced to form this.
The name is so given due to the presence of the beautiful fountain that has been dedicated to David Tyler. The fountain is the main attraction here as well as an important landmark of the city. This is called The Genius of water. It looks like Jesus spreading his arms if we look the other way round. The fountain is completely coated with bronze imported from Munich and is still as attractive as it was earlier on.

Fountain Square is the heartbeat of Cincinnati! The are so many great things that they offer both to and from the city that it is almost hard to believe that a trip there won't cost you anything! From free concerts and summertime festivals to Christmas trees and ice skating in the winter. We are lucky enough to have a beautiful fountain there where you can even grab a quick lunch and just sit in the sun! I can't say enough about this place! As Always, Enjoy!
We went a few days before Christmas. The weather was not too cold or warm. We brought the dogs. I was half expecting to be told they couldn't be in the Square, however that wasnt the case. We passed security guards and police with nothing being said. Everyone was friendly and enjoyed seeing the dogs. There was a Aunt Annie's Pretzel truck selling goodies.
We had a great time with Sid on our carriage ride. The ice skating was fun and the lights around the square were beautiful. The only negative was the constant barrage of people asking for money and the drunk squabbling people that you had to walk by to get down the sidewalk. The parking is very easy and accessible but alot of the stores seem to be closing and leaving around the area.
Great place for outdoor concerts in the summer. (Nothing going on in the winter beautiful fountain 10 min attraction) but in the summer Foodtrucks Fun and Festivities makes for a goodnight. There are lots of panhandlers and squatters around the outskirts so be prepared to tell half a dozen people you don't have money for "bus fare" and you don't buy cigarettes to hand them out like going out of business flyers. 4 stars only cause there is no 3.5
Great place to visit any time of the year. There are activities happening on the Square regularly. On street parking close by and a garage beneath the Square. Plenty of restaurants adjacent and within easy walking distance. The streetcar serves the area and makes it an easy trek to the riverfront or OTR.
