The summer season in Cinque Terre is the peak season and the summer months see a huge inflow of crowds from across Europe, America and other parts of the world. The summer season also experiences the least amount of rainfalls, making it a perfect time to indulge in the plethora of events and activities. The winters in the settlement are generally cold but rarely go below zero degrees Celsius. The winter months also experience frequent rainfall making it the off season.

Summer (May–August)–The summer season is a great time to visit Cinque Terre. The summer season boasts a pleasant weather with bright Mediterranean days, coloured flowers on the cliffs and longer evenings. Fall (September to November)–The fall season offers a brilliant sweet spot to visit Cinque Terre. The town boasts a pleasant weather with the day time temperatures fluctuating between 25 to 15 degrees Celsius. The town is relatively empty as most of the summer crowds have already left. However, the summer charm of the town is still alive and the fall season hosts several events like Local food fairs and grape harvesting boasting food and artisan fairs, music sessions and art exhibits from around the world.The prices in the town during the fall season are low. This is the best time to bag some cheap deals and discounts as the town prepares for the off season. Most of the hiking trails close down and the precipitation levels start increasing as winter season approaches.

Winter (December to February)–The winters are usually considered as the off season in Cinque Terre. However, the month of December can be as busy as the summer months due to the Christmas and New Year’s Celebrations. The winter months boast a cold weather with the day time temperatures falling to about 11 degrees Celsius. The mercury tends to drop around 4 degrees Celsius during the evenings and the night time. The month of December can be crowded and several events and activities take place including the Christmas celebrations, New Year's Eve party, vineyard tours, shopping opportunities, interesting museums and street live shows. The rest of the winter months see almost little to no crowds. The beaches are secluded and the hiking trails are shut. The winter months experience frequent rainfalls with precipitation levels between 80mm to 100mm. The prices in the town plummet from January and discounts and cheap deals are often available.

Spring (March to April)–As the spring season arrives, the days start getting longer and the temperatures start to rise. The beaches and the villages are still secluded as the summer crowds haven’t arrived yet. The day time temperatures during the spring months remain between 15 to 18 degrees Celsius. The hiking trails open during the spring season and it is an ideal time to go for a hike. The sea water is still cold to go for a swim however, one can visit the beaches and enjoy the first, warming sun of the year. The prices in the town are still low as compared to the peak season prices. This is another great time to bag somediscounts and cheap deals.

The best time to visit Cinque Terre is during the summer season. The summer months boast a pleasant climate and almost all attractions and activities are open. However if you wish to avoid the summer crowds and inflated peak season prices, consider visiting during the fall season followed by the spring season. If you wish to enjoy the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, December is a great time to go.
