Built in 13th century, Castello di Riomaggiore dominates the topography of Cinque Terre with its presence. The castle looks obviously historic and evokes a quaint charm in its setting. It was built on the order of Marquis Turcotti, the lord of Ripalta. The castle was also a part of the project to prepare a defensive structure around Riomaggiore. You will be able to see two circular towers which surround the entrance and dominate the architecture of this castle. Sometimes, events take place here making the quiet castle look lively.

  • The most beautiful place in the world I’ve seen. Jaw dropping!!!

  • That was my first stop at Cinque Terres. I took the bus for fear of the unforgiving August sun and it was a rewarding ride. The castle itself was worth its 5 euro but the view was great up there. Seeing how the driver go through the narrow street and meet the onward traffic was quite an experience

  • Nice view but the 2,5€ per person for only a part of the castle is too much..

  • I'm a tourist. There wasn't much to see here, the castle ruins were a bit mediocre, but if you haven't seen any nice views of the see and surrounding land yet, there's a nice lookout point around

  • Great views. The castle itself is not very interesting.
